Sie entstand aus der Notwendigkeit, bezahlbaren Wohnraum für SBB-Angestellte zu schaffen, da die Mietpreise zu dieser Zeit sehr hoch waren. Die Genossenschaft erwarb das Rohner'sche Gut im Gebiet "Schoren" und errichtete dort eine Siedlung mit Mehrfamilien-, Einzel- und Reihenhäusern. Die EBG bietet ihren Mitgliedern attraktives, ruhiges Wohnen mit zeitgemäßem Komfort, nicht nur für Eisenbahner. Sie verwaltet und vermietet Wohnungen und bietet Dienstleistungen wie eine Depositenkasse, Reparaturmeldungen und die Möglichkeit, Parkplätze zu mieten. Die Genossenschaft hat eine lange Geschichte und hat sich stets den Bedürfnissen ihrer Mitglieder angepasst.
