The cooperative

The cooperative values open and communicative residents who appreciate a tolerant community and an intergenerational mix, and who are willing to contribute actively to communal life.

Before moving in, a deposit equivalent to three months’ rent must be paid into a tenant deposit account. It is converted into cooperative capital at a later date, so rental deposit insurance and similar alternatives are not accepted.

The Lehenmatt neighbourhood

The building

The building forms part of the cooperative’s development along Birsstrasse, Lehenmattstrasse and Redingstrasse. The Lehenmatt new-build is constructed primarily of timber; only the ground-floor base and stair cores are made of concrete.

The six-storey building is approximately 80 metres long and contains 48 apartments as well as various shared-use areas. A leisure workshop and a residents’ meeting space on the ground floor are available to residents. Communal terraces on the penthouse level provide additional space for relaxation.

A large courtyard behind the building is planned as an undeveloped, landscaped area with seating and a playground, providing a sheltered outdoor space.
