The room

Shared spaces

In addition to the private cluster, residents have access to 171 m² of communal areas, which include a spacious living room with sofas and a projector, a large kitchen, a dining area with a large balcony, and a home-office corner.

Household and community life

Currently the household consists of one woman, two men and a couple with a baby; the adult members are in their 30s. The group communicates in a mix of German, English and Spanish and works in fields such as water treatment, medical device technology, psychology, mechanical engineering and earth sciences. Shared activities include cooking together, occasional joint outings and inviting friends or neighbours. The household maintains a garden plot and participates in a Solidarische Landwirtschaft (SolaWi), working on the field at least once per year and receiving regional organic vegetables weekly. Regular apartment meetings are held to exchange information, plan activities and make group decisions. A sense of cleanliness, order and reliable completion of assigned chores is expected.

• Previous experience with similar housing projects and availability of the necessary resources is desirable

Costs and financial requirements

Rent: CHF 1,739/month (includes electricity, internet, Serafe and a cleaning service for the common areas).
A monthly contribution of CHF 30 per person to a furniture fund is required.
The rent deposit for the room is CHF 1,700.
A refundable cooperative share capital contribution of CHF 11,574 is required by the cooperative; this can also be provided via the pension fund. If providing the share capital immediately poses difficulties, solutions may be possible.
